Oh boy here we go again

APPARENTLY I only blog when I change jobs. By that logic, I avoided having to blog mostly by working at Mozilla for most of a decade. Snuck by for 18 months at Glitch and then they forced the issue by laying me off! Of course I couldn't just write, first I had to re-build my website.

Check!

Then I had to feel bad about myself for a while, a vital part of my writing process.

Did that for a month.

Lastly, it's time to write the big blog post announcing what's next!

Well.

I don't have a new job! In my defense, I haven't tried. I've done a very bad job avoiding burnout in my career. Between Yahoo and Mozilla, a bog-standard weekend. Between Mozilla and Glitch? Negative four weeks. I am burnt out. A month into unemployment, a little less burnt out. I honestly don't know what I want to do next, so for the rest of the summer, I'm hiring myself.

My goal is to make some new stuff, polish and finish some old stuff, and see if I have the discipline to be self-employed, or even if I enjoy it.

A huge shout-out to my pal Jenn for launching her ✨brand new blog and inspiring me to stop fiddling with my site generator and actually put something out there.

So here's to another new start on this website! We shall see what comes of it.

Update: I didn't actually talk what's powering my new site! It's a big ol mess of custom JS because of course it is. Those curious can check it out here
